Origin Of The Merens

 

 

The horse Mérens has an ancient origine. It was born in France in the Pyrenees. This horse was already present in the paleolintic period. 

Graffiti and sculptures of Mérens were discovered in the cave of Niaux. 

 

 

The Mérens were also present in the troops of Giulio Cesare and Napoleon.

 


Mérens is a very resistant and ambidextrous horse, suitable for any rider.
 It is a horse which can be used for both the English and the American saddle, can be also used for light pulling, and it is a descreet jumper.

 

 

During the first years of life, especially during the period of the summer months, Mérens live freely in the high mountain.

 

Mérens is a very strong horse adapted to the hilly zones, to the mountains and for the trekking.

The down of Mérens is strictly black with the dark red shadows and with the thick mane; it is strongly build, arriving to a maximun of 155/160 cm of height.
